Murdock Helps Schools Comply with Michigan Filter First

City of Industry, Calif. — November 21, 2024
Filter First is a combination of Michigan laws (HB 4341 and HB 4342) designed to protect children from exposure to lead in drinking water. This legislation is the first in the nation to specifically protect children from exposure to lead in drinking water in schools and child care centers.
To comply with Michigan Filter First requirements, schools and child care centers in Michigan must do three things:
- Develop a Drinking Water Management Plan
- Install lead reducing filters on all fixtures that dispense drinking water
- Test filtered water yearly
Murdock has created a landing page with resources for navigating Filter First compliance.
